Layers of vivid green, deep emerald, turquoise, soft gray, and flashes of golden yellow sweep across Fields of Gold, creating an abstract landscape filled with movement and depth. Fluid lines move through the composition like rolling hills, water, and changing terrain, while translucent washes allow the colors to blend, overlap, and reveal what lies beneath.
For me, this painting became about the way land and water seem to move into one another. I didn’t begin with a specific landscape in mind, but while listening to Sting and The Police, those rich greens, open spaces, and hints of gold naturally began to take shape. Music often determines the feeling of my work long before I understand where a painting is going, and this one seemed to find its own landscape along the way.
